A Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) delegation from the Eastern Theatre Command will visit Japan in mid-January to strengthen ties between the two countries. The delegation, which oversees operations around Taiwan and the East China Sea, where China and Japan have a territorial dispute, will meet with Japanese defence officials, including leaders of the Ministry of Defence and the Self-Defence Forces. This is part of an effort to enhance mutual understanding and trust, following a similar visit by a Chinese military delegation in May 2023.
